Ubisoft has been teasing a sequel to the game for nearly two decades. The first teaser for “Beyond Good &amp; Evil 2” was unveiled in 2008, but the project faced prolonged periods of silence. It resurfaced at E3 2017 and 2018 as a prequel, revealing a fresh direction for the beloved franchise.
In August 2020, exciting news emerged that a feature film adaptation of “Beyond Good &amp; Evil” was in development at Netflix, further expanding the game’s universe and its reach to new audiences.

The journey to create “Beyond Good &amp; Evil 2” has not been without its challenges. In February, reports emerged that Ubisoft Montpellier’s managing director, Guillaume Carmona, had departed amid a labor investigation by local government authorities. Developers at the studio had faced issues, with many taking extended leave due to stress or illness as the development of “Beyond Good &amp; Evil 2” continued.
The report suggested that the game had not even entered technical pre-production, as the studio struggled to settle on a creative vision for the project.
Tragically, in July, “Beyond Good &amp; Evil 2” creative director Emile Morel passed away at the age of 40. Morel, who had worked on Ubisoft’s “Rayman Legends” for 14 years, left a lasting impact on the gaming industry. His contributions to “Beyond Good &amp; Evil 2” will undoubtedly be remembered as a part of his impressive legacy.
