On November 27, 2023, following the <a href="https://news.todayq.com/hong-kong-police-takes-28-people-into-custody-in-connection-with-jpex-crypto-scandal/">JPEX Rugpull incident</a>, in an interview with BC Technology, a subsidiary of licensed virtual asset platform company OSL in Hong Kong, Hu Zhenbang, the group’s CFO, highlighted the potential for accelerated growth in the virtual asset industry through collaboration with banks. He emphasized that government support for licensed virtual asset industry development has been consistent, with stricter supervision, particularly after the JPEX incident. Hong Kong’s surveillance of non-compliant platforms&nbsp; 
Additionally, Zhenbang also stated, “<a href="https://news.todayq.com/hong-kong-warns-unlicensed-crypto-exchanges-could-face-criminal-action/">Non-compliant platforms</a> will face strict monitoring post-JPEX, limiting their ability to advertise extensively in places like MTR stations to avoid legal violations.” This underscores the authorities’ commitment to ensuring compliance within the virtual asset space. However, Sifang Jingchuang, a commercial bank and financial technology solution provider, emphasized their belief through Chen Yaowen, its Chief Digital Director and Financial Technology Innovation Director. Chen highlighted the company’s role in facilitating <a href="https://news.todayq.com/hong-kongs-path-to-enhanced-operations-via-bond-tokenization-initiatives/">tokenization in the virtual asset</a> field and integrating it with the banking system to drive the adoption of related technologies by banks. 
Chen believes that the integration of virtual assets with banks, under the scrutiny of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, could significantly enhance public confidence. Leveraging the credibility of banks, coupled with regulatory oversight, could pave the way for a compliant virtual asset industry, ultimately making it easier for the public to engage in regulated trading.&nbsp; 
He anticipates that banks, with their trusted image, could play a pivotal role in fostering a secure environment for virtual asset transactions, including seamless withdrawals and deposits. Tokenized virtual assets and secure custody wallet services 
Looking ahead, Chen sees substantial potential for banks to further develop in the space by exploring tokenized virtual assets and offering secure custody wallet services. This integration could be a key driver in propelling Hong Kong’s virtual asset market to new heights. The collaboration between banks and the virtual asset industry, supported by regulatory frameworks, is poised to shape a promising future for the region’s digital financial landscape and help make Hong Kong a crypto hub.
