<p>LG AI Research, the artificial intelligence think tank of LG Group, has entered into a landmark partnership with UNESCO in Seoul, signing a letter of intent to collectively advance knowledge and awareness of the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence (AI). In addition to MOOCs, the collaboration aims to produce educational materials focused on AI ethics, further spreading awareness and understanding of this critical field.</p>

<p>In November 2021, UNESCO took a significant step by establishing the first-ever global framework for the ethical use of AI, known as “The Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.” This framework, which was unanimously adopted by all 193 member states at UNESCO’s general conference, serves as a guiding document for shaping the ethical development and deployment of AI technology. It places a strong emphasis on safeguarding human rights and dignity through principles such as transparency and fairness.</p>
<p>LG’s AI think tank had previously articulated its AI ethics principles in August 2022, signaling its dedication to constructing more responsible AI systems. To further these principles, LG has been actively engaged in running a task force for AI impact assessment and a working group for AI ethics in collaboration with other affiliates within the LG Group. This approach underscores LG’s shift in focus, prioritizing customer well-being over technological advancement.</p>
