<h2 id="header-0">Hot Topic: M3TAClub — Bloktopia’s Nightclub</h2>Developer Diaries aim to give a transparent view to our community on how the build of Bloktopia is progressing. We value your loyalty and passion for our project, and we will be sharing as much information as we can about 1 specific feature — hopefully at the end of each week!We will continue to work in an agile manner, and will be adapting and optimising our roadmap continuously. That is the nature of building a metaverse. Some things we share here might not ever come to fruition, but our goal will be to set clear expectations and communicate with you all about the upcoming roadmap and priorities.This weekly Developer Diary update is about M3TAClub, Bloktopia’s brand new nightclub!As voted for live by M3TASPACES users in the last community test, the newly named M3TAClub was a recent completion by the team and the latest addition to Bloktopia and the M3TASPACES environment.We started with a mix of ideas and a variety of design trials. We ultimately opted for a relatively minimalistic design as our starting point, that very much had the look and feel of Bloktopia. This decision was driven by our desire to observe user interaction within the Nightclub and make subsequent updates based on their feedback. Here are some of the initial concepts and designs we began with:<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/1131c5b2954842d6a8e91bb284ea2873.png" />We knew we wanted the room to interact with the music that was played. It had to react to different sound frequencies in the music and show this on the surfaces in the environment. To achieve this we created an innovative audio to texture system that converts the sound-wave for a given audio mix (a collection of one or more sounds) into a texture.The texture can then be fed into multiple shaders which are used to render the environment. Each shader can create a different visual effect using the same original output texture.<react-video url="https://youtu.be/2Ir0NtWS9q4"></react-video><react-video url="https://youtu.be/--M1s5y4W7s"></react-video>The truly impressive bit is how small the data and textures are here; we take 512 samples from the current audio that is playing and we convert this into 8 or 64 pixels (depending on quality we need).<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/5d90c467aa3d4c65ad380109ddbe2cea.png" />Example of small texture that formed the Audio Texture SampleThe output is this tiny texture which we can send to a GPU as part of rendering a model. This tiny texture file contains all the information we need to create a number of visual effects entirely on the GPU.<react-video url="https://youtu.be/-3ewAItEdPI"></react-video>It was great fun creating lots of different effects, with a small amount having been added into the nightclub for the upcoming launch, with scope to add plenty more in the future!
