BlackRock, in its application for an Ether ETF, challenged the SEC's variations between spot-crypto and crypto-futures ETFs. BlackRock argued that since the <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-shorts-news/sec-chair-open-to-a-rebooted-ftx-crypto-exchange" class="f-link" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">SEC </a>had approved ETFs providing exposure to ETH futures, it should have approved those providing exposure to the spot ETH market as well.&nbsp;
The SEC has not yet approved a spot-crypto ETF, favoring crypto futures <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-shorts-news/us-congress-members-urge-sec-to-immediately-approve-etf" class="f-link" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ETFs </a>due to perceived regulatory advantages.
