<h2 id="header-0">Hot Topic: VR updates</h2><p><em>Developer Diaries aim to give a transparent view to our community on how the build of Bloktopia is progressing. We value your loyalty and passion for our project, and we will be sharing as much information as we can about 1 specific feature — hopefully at the end of each week!</em></p><p><em>We will continue to work in an agile manner, and will be adapting and optimising our roadmap continuously. That is the nature of building a metaverse. Some things we share here might not ever come to fruition, but our goal will be to set clear expectations and communicate with you all about the upcoming roadmap and priorities.</em></p><p>This weekly Developer Diary update takes a fresh look at VR.</p><p>VR capabilities have always been at the heart of Bloktopia’s vision. In the pursuit of the most immersive and exciting experiences, we’ve recognised that VR is the gateway to the future. It’s a platform that empowers users to select how they wish to step into the captivating environments of Bloktopia and M3TASPACES.</p><p>With a significant portion of our recent efforts concentrated on the desktop interface, and considering that the last VR features and events within M3TASPACES were showcased back in February 2023, this edition focuses on the work done to align VR with the latest enhancements that have graced the desktop experience.</p><p>You can watch all of these updates in action in the video below:</p><react-video url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v&#61;WpmOyzOuZMg"></react-video><p></p><h3 id="m3tapass-integration">M3TAPASS integration</h3><p>As viewed at the start of the clip, M3TAPASS has been integrated into VR, meaning that users will use M3TAPASS to scan in quickly and easily through VR as they do through desktop. This is a significant improvement on the initial login system used in the February 23 VR event, and also creates one universal way to enter the Bloktopia Metaverse.</p><h3 id="controls-updated-and-re-calibrated">Controls updated and re-calibrated</h3><p>We have re-calibrated and updated the controls for VR to make them more intuitive and user-friendly. You can now access the same menu seen through desktop and adjust your settings and preferences from there. You can also use the push-to-talk feature to communicate with other users, just like in the desktop version.</p><h3 id="collapsible-hud">Collapsible HUD</h3><p>As explained in Dev Diary <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/community/articles/652903316edce00dcc074ee2/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">edition #24</a>, we have redesigned the HUD (head-up display) to make it more intuitive and accessible for users. The HUD is the interface that shows various information and options for users, such as their M3TAPASS username, internet connection, settings, controls and interactive buttons.</p><p>The desktop version has now been replicated in VR and follows the users line of sight, whilst also not getting in the way of the user interacting within the virtual environment or viewing any content.</p><h3 id="text-chat">Text Chat</h3><p>Along with Voice Chat, we have added text chat as another option for users to communicate with each other and with the hosts during events. This can be accessed by selecting the chat pop up in the bottom left of the HUD, which brings up a pop-up keyboard in order to type out messages.</p><h3 id="ask-a-question-and-voting-features">Ask a Question and Voting Features</h3><p>Two recently developed desktop features, “Ask a Question” and “Vote,” have seamlessly transitioned into the VR interface. These features, initiated by presenters on the virtual stage, are designed for swift and effortless interaction within the VR environment. Leveraging the same pop-up keyboard, as showcased in the text chat, users can now directly engage with presenters and participate seamlessly.</p><h3 id="what-is-next">What is next?</h3><p>In conclusion, while our desktop platform remains the cornerstone of Bloktopia and M3TASPACES due to its accessibility and popularity, our commitment to the VR experience remains. We understand that VR represents the future of immersive interaction, and we are determined to keep it at the cutting edge of innovation for our community.</p><p>As we move forward, we will maintain a dual focus on enhancing the desktop experience for our wide user base, while also diligently refining VR and introducing exclusive features tailored specifically to this incredible technology.
