The Central Bank of the Russian Federation has voiced its support for legalizing cryptocurrency mining while opposing the circulation of cryptocurrencies. Stanislav Korop, the Deputy Director of the Bank's Department of Financial Technologies, made this announcement. At the same time, the Central Bank maintains its opposition to the broader financial circulation of cryptocurrencies within the Russian Federation. Valery Seleznev, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Energy, sees a positive in this for the energy sector. He believes excess electrical capacity in various regions can be funneled toward mining. On this note, Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Snikkars mentioned that due to the lack of legislation, there currently are "neither white nor grey" miners.
