<p>In a surprising turn of events, the Aptos blockchain, known for implementing the Move language, has been down for more than four hours. According to AptoScan’s block explorer, on-chain transactions have come to a screeching halt at block 104621314. The last transaction was recorded at 7:11 UTC+8 on October 19, 2023. This disruption has led major exchanges like Upbit and OKX to suspend deposits and Aptos (APT) token withdrawals.</p>

The team assured users they are “working diligently to resolve the issue.”</p>

<p>The statement raises more questions than it answers. While the development team is aware of the issue, it’s unclear what caused the network to go down in the first place and when it will be restored. Aptos users are advised to avoid transactions until an official announcement declares the network stable.</p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-upbit-okx-exchange-rings-the-alarm"><strong>Upbit &amp; OKX Exchange Rings the Alarm</strong></h2> 
<p>Upbit, a well-known digital asset exchange, <a href="https://upbit.com/service_center/notice?id=3788">responded swiftly to the situation</a>. They suspended Aptos (APT) deposit and withdrawal services, citing “network maintenance” as the reason. The exchange informed users that deposits would resume once the maintenance was completed but warned about potential delays due to network congestion.</p> 
<p>Following suit, OKX also issued an <a href="https://www.okx.com/help/okx-announcement-on-scheduled-maintenance-for-aptos-network">announcement</a> regarding the Aptos network going offline. OKX was scheduled to undergo maintenance for the Aptos network at 8:30 pm UTC on October 18, 2023, and following the unexpected network disruption, deposits and withdrawals of APT tokens have been temporarily suspended.</p> 
<p>One of the more interesting points from OKX’s announcement is that the trading of APT tokens will not be affected during this period. Traders might see this as an opportunity or a risk, given that the network’s status is uncertain.</p>
