<p>The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has proposed that banks disclose their exposure to cryptocurrencies. The committee is made up of central banks and financial authorities from 28 jurisdictions and aims to set standardized disclosure guidelines for banks’ crypto asset exposures. The proposed regulations would require banks to provide quantitative and qualitative data on their activities linked to cryptocurrencies. The consultation period is open until January 31, 2024, and the proposed implementation date for the regulations is January 1, 2025. The goal is to reduce the information asymmetry between banks and market participants.</p>
