<p>BuzzFeed’s ill-fated experiment with 195 AI-generated Barbie dolls representing different countries starkly illustrated the biases in AI-generated images. These dolls exhibited flawed depictions, ranging from light-skinned Asian Barbies to inappropriate representations of national identities. Such biases extend to other AI applications, from search results to facial recognition systems.</p>

<p><strong>Gender bias</strong>: A clear gender bias was evident across all prompts, with most images depicting men.</p>

<p>The biases in AI-generated images primarily stem from the training data. These systems are trained on vast datasets of captioned images, which inherently contain biases.
