<p>President Bola Tinubu has sacked the Chief Executive Officers of three agencies under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy with immediate effect. This was disclosed in a statement this night by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.</p>
<p>The heads of the agencies affected include the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Garba Danbatta; the Postmaster General of the Nigerian Postal Service, Mr Sunday Adepoju and the Director General of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat), Mr Tukur Funtua.</p>

<p>Recall that Danbatta was appointed Executive Vice Chairman of NCC in 2015 and reappointed in July 2020 for a second term of five years in office. This was supposed to be concluded by 2025.</p>
<p>Mr Kashifu Abdullahi and Dr Vincent Olatunji were reappointed as Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency and the National Commissioner of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, respectively.</p>
<p>The president also approved the appointment of a new Special Adviser on Technology and Digital Economy, Mr Idris Alubankudi.</p>

<h5 id="aminu-maida-of-ncc">Aminu Maida of NCC</h5>
<p>Prior to his appointment, Aminu Maida was the Executive Director of technology and operations at the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS). He is a seasoned technical professional with over 15 years of multi-functional and international experience in Fintech &amp; telecoms &amp; enterprise technology.</p>

<p>Prior to his appointment at NIBSS, Aminu was CTO at the Nigerian-based FinTech Arca Payments Network and Senior Manager at Cisco Systems UK. Aminu holds an MEng in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London and a PhD in Electrical &amp; Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath UK.</p>
<h5 id="nkechi-egerton-idehen-of-nigcomsat">Nkechi Egerton-Idehen of NigComSat</h5>
<p>Before she was appointed the CEO of NigComSat, Nkechi Egerton-Idehen served as the Head of Sales for the Middle East &amp; Africa at Meta. She has also played a vital role within the executive leadership team at Ericsson Ghana and Liberia, where she managed the account teams for Ericsson in both countries.</p>

<p>Her prior roles include an Acting Customer Team Head role at MTN Nigeria and serving as the Country Manager in Nigeria and the Regional Sales Manager in West Africa for Avanti Communications. With over two decades of experience in telecommunications, Nkechi brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.</p>
<p>She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Warwick. Nkechi has been recognised with numerous awards and accolades for her outstanding contributions. Notably, she received the 50 Leading Ladies in Corporate Nigeria Leadership Award, highlighting her exceptional leadership abilities.&nbsp;</p>
<h5 id="tola-odeyemi-of-nipost">Tola Odeyemi of NIPOST</h5>
<p>Tola is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in government and regulatory roles, working at senior government levels both at state and federal levels in Nigeria on strategy development &amp;amp; implementation, policy making, and operations.</p>
<p>She is the West Africa Government Affairs Lead at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.binance.com/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Binance</a>. Before that, Tola Odeyemi was the Head of Public Policy for West Africa at Uber Technologies.</p>

<p>Prior to this, she served as the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Environmental Trust Fund and simultaneously served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos state Governor on the Public Utilities Monitoring and Assurance Unit (PUMAU).</p>

<p>In the span of her career, she has served as the Special Assistant to the Lagos state Governor on Global Outreach and Partnerships at the Office of Overseas Affairs &amp;amp; Investment (Lagos Global).</p>
<p>She was also the project lead for the South West region of Nigeria in the Shared Services office under the Banking Operations directorate of the Central Bank of Nigeria.</p>
