Aito, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brand backed by Huawei, has received more than 50,000 orders for its revamped M7 model within the first 25 days since it went on sale.   
The announcement was made by Richard Yu, Huawei's Smart Car CEO, on his Weibo social media account on Saturday.   
The orders, which required a non-refundable deposit, would put Aito among China's five top-selling new energy vehicle manufacturers, based on sales data for August.   
The revamped M7 is a five-seat SUV with a starting price of CNY249,800 (USD34,270). It is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, and has a combined range of over 1,000 kilometers.   
The M7 also comes with a number of advanced features, including Huawei's HarmonyOS car operating system and a suite of driver assistance systems.   
The strong demand for the revamped M7 is a testament to Aito's growing brand recognition and the increasing popularity of EVs in China. The company is expected to deliver its first M7 units to customers in October.
