<h2 id="header-0">OpenAI aims to overcome the current shortage of AI chips</h2><p>The company behind AI chatbot <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency-news/alibaba-releases-a-more-advanced-ai-system-than-chatgpt" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ChatGPT</a>, OpenAI is now exploring the possibility of manufacturing processing chips in-house amid a global shortage of expensive and difficult-to-produce hardware. OpenAI has also evaluated an unnamed company with an eye on an acquisition target to help its ambitions of making AI chips according to a report. But the company has not yet disclosed whether it will go ahead with the acquisition or not. OpenAI aims to address the current shortage of AI chips, so OpenAI is internally discussing other options for this issue.</p><h3 id="due-to-chip-shortage-openai-development-getting-delayed">Due to chip shortage OpenAI development getting delayed</h3><p>OpenAI wants to develop its own <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency-news/samsung-partners-with-tenstorrent-to-develop-ai-chips" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">AI </a>chips. Working more closely with chip supplier NVIDIA are the current options being floated by OpenAI. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had said that his company&#39;s development was being delayed due to chip shortage earlier this year. They want to manufacture AI chips as soon as possible. If OpenAI goes ahead with its plan to make its own chips, its name will join the list of tech industry giants like Google and Amazon that have shifted chip production in-house.</p><h4>AI chips demand is skyrocketing</h4><p>ChatGPT was launched by OpenAI in November 2022, after which the demand for AI chips has skyrocketed and due to this, NVIDIA&#39;s shares have seen an increase. Companies making AI applications are demanding to buy expensive computing hardware, due to which there has been a sudden surge in its demand. An important update to ChatGPT was made by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently. Sam Altman had claimed that from now on ChatGPT will do the work of seeing, listening and speaking in addition to writing.
