<p>Taiwan may propose a draft special law for regulating crypto firms by the end of November, according to member of the Legislative Yuan, Yung-Chang Chiang. The lawmaker held a public hearing to discuss the proposal today, arguing that a dedicated crypto asset act is necessary to regulate the asset class, which differs in many ways from traditional financial products. Chiang’s proposed law would require all crypto platforms operating in Taiwan to apply for a permit, with regulators able to order them to cease operations if they fail to do so. The proposal aims to prevent regulatory arbitrage as concerns mount around offshore exchanges.</p>
