With this update, we&#39;re proud to announce a few upgrades this week highlighting DeSo&#39;s full-stack advantage.<h2 id="header-0">Major Openfund Upgrades (Shipping This Week!)</h2>With the <a href="https://openfund.com/trade" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Openfund</a> upgrades shipping this week, the DeSo DEX will be the first DEX capable of reaching full parity with centralized exchanges.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/7066e46c8a1640f183b70cf2faeeb841.webp" /><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/5b6a2edd7a58431d85f4292bca3e9e0a.webp" /><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/38a6e4aa57dc4242b569fe2c46fbb68c.webp" />With this upgrade, you will be able to buy/sell DESO on Openfund, as well as BTC, ETH, and SOL, all with a new USDC base pair. All on a fully-decentralized order-book exchange that feels just like Coinbase.This upgrade means that DeSo will be powering the first cross-chain order-book DEX (decentralized exchange). The DeSo DEX is more efficient than liquidity pool models like Uniswap because it supports full order-book functionality. However, unlike centralized exchanges, the DeSo DEX remains fully-decentralized, with all orders submitted to the blockchain, just like a Bitcoin or Ethereum transaction. In addition, thanks to <a href="https://heroswap.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">HeroSwap</a>, cross-chain assets like BTC, ETH, and SOL can all be traded on the DeSo DEX via UIs like <a href="https://openfund.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Openfund</a>, while DEXes on Ethereum generally only support Ethereum-native tokens.The end result is the first DEX that has the potential to reach full parity with centralized exchanges.Once this functionality has been battle-tested for a few weeks, we will be adding BTC, ETH, SOL, and USDC to the main DeSo wallet on deso.com. All of this infrastructure will be extremely important when we launch our next app, as it will power the trading of its token.<h2 id="header-1">Identity Wallet Upgrades (SHIPPED!)</h2>It&#39;s no secret that crypto wallets like MetaMask are notoriously difficult for mainstream users to onboard onto. With the upgrades shipped this week, the DeSo wallet becomes the first crypto wallet that can scale crypto to mainstream adoption.<h2 id="header-2">One-click for starter DESO</h2>Before, you needed to enter a phone number to get starter DESO. Now, anyone can get free DESO fully pseudonymously with a new captcha flow that we&#39;ve made the default.Try it out by creating a new account on <a href="https://wallet.deso.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">wallet.deso.com</a> or <a href="https://diamondapp.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">diamondapp.com</a>!<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/58cbdb178bfd46cb8f30084ec6fa4440.webp" /><h2 id="header-3">Unlimited Pseudonymous Accounts</h2>If you click &#34;Add Account&#34; on any DeSo app, you will notice that your wallet looks a little different. This is because we added the ability to create an unlimited number of wallets from a single Google login or seed phrase. From now on, all new users will be able to create unlimited pseudonymous alt accounts without needing to create a new seed phrase or Google account for each one.This upgrade makes DeSo truly ready to power the <a href="https://en.everybodywiki.com/Pseudonymous_Economy#:~:text&#61;The%20pseudonymous%20economy%20is%20a%20term%20that%20was,aren%27t%20made%20for%20the%20Internetas%20opposed%20to%20pseudonyms." rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">pseudonymous economy</a>.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/768942e61a0144d8bdabd71865ea7ad8.webp" /><h2 id="header-4">Seamless Account Backup</h2>We&#39;ve heard from many that they need the ability to backup their seed phrase. This functionality is now in the DeSo wallet. You can also disable this feature for extra security.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/eee568277ca9452f942e72de4cf8fc1c.webp" /><h2 id="header-5">Block Explorer Upgrades (Almost Ready!)</h2>We&#39;ve been working on a major overhaul to the DeSo block explorer. With this upgrade, DeSo&#39;s block explorer and on-chain analytics will be the most advanced of any blockchain in the crypto space.All of this is only possible thanks to DeSo&#39;s GraphQL upgrade, which shipped a few weeks ago. This allows node operators to seamlessly and efficiently load a local Postgres instance with all of their DeSo node&#39;s data, and then query that data with a GraphQL API. No other blockchain supports this level of indexing and querying functionality out of the box, let alone at DeSo scale.More details on this in the next week or so. Twitter Scale, and our Next App</h2>The upgrades mentioned in this post are needed in order for DeSo apps to offer a user experience that is at parity with traditional web2 apps. We want DeSo apps to compete not just with social apps like Twitter, but also centralized exchanges like Coinbase (while being fully-decentralized).The above being said, most of our resources are being allocated to two core initiatives that we think will allow DeSo to &#34;break out&#34;: <a href="https://revolution.deso.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Revolution Proof of Stake</a> and what we on the core team have been referring to as our &#34;next app.&#34;<h2 id="header-7">Revolution</h2>Revolution is a key infrastructure upgrade that will allow DeSo to handle 500 posts per second, about 1/10th of Twitter&#39;s 6,000 posts per second, and give DeSo 1 second finality for transactions.With BitClout, our first app, we tested the limits of DeSo&#39;s ability to store and index content, showing that we could handle 2 million signups and over 100 thousand daily active users at peak.Even today, no other blockchain can handle 100k daily active posters, or support a social app like BitClout. But for our next app, we&#39;re prepared to go even further. Our goal is to be able to handle 10 million daily active users. And we think we can get there.With Revolution, DeSo will process payments faster than Visa and Mastercard, and will be able to handle ~1/10th the scale of Twitter, with a clear path to achieving full &#34;Twitter Scale.&#34;When will Revolution be ready? Our timelines have us launching everything on testnet before the end of the year, and then hitting the hard fork in January of 2024. This is a little later than we initially hoped, but it cannot be understated how big of a technical leap this will be for DeSo.With Revolution, DeSo will become, in every sense, the infrastructure that will power the future of the internet.<h2 id="header-8">Next App</h2>Of course, infrastructure means nothing if you don&#39;t have users. This is why we are planning to launch our biggest consumer app since BitClout after Revolution ships.The logic is simple: First, we complete our infrastructure upgrades, and ensure that every component of DeSo&#39;s app ecosystem is, without question, industry-leading. Then, as a &#34;one-two punch,&#34; we launch our next app to bring attention to everything the DeSo ecosystem has to offer.For our next app, we are considering virality and retention as our two key design goals. This being said, if we are able to engineer an app that is viral but NOT retentive, then we still succeed in bringing attention to DeSo&#39;s ecosystem. We also likely succeed in bootstrapping a developer ecosystem that can generate retention in the long-term. This would be a great outcome, but it&#39;s not enough.Instead, we are aiming to launch an app that is at least as viral as BitClout was, but with much higher retention than anything we&#39;ve yet seen in crypto. In a world full of intriguing gimmick apps with no staying power, our next app is designed to be the exception. Your bulletproof lifeboat in a sea of leaky buckets.At this point, we have considered numerous app designs, and feel we have many that can fit the bill. Every app concept we&#39;ve iterated on has the potential to take crypto to the next level. In the next few weeks, we will be refining mocks for our favorite concept and typing up our latest proposal and sharing it with you for our feedback. Stay tuned!<h2 id="header-9">Conclusion</h2>Our approach with DeSo is methodical and patient. It is methodical because we work from first principles to determine everything we need to reach parity with web2 ecosystems. And it is patient in the sense that we are happy to invest in major infrastructure upgrades that take months if doing so allows our next app can scale farther than anything that&#39;s ever been possible in crypto.Right now is an exciting time for DeSo. We&#39;ve been investing in our infrastructure for over a year now. Quietly, we&#39;ve been building up an arsenal of advantages that, together, have the potential to redefine what it means to be a &#34;crypto&#34; project.The launch of our next app early next year will be a key moment, where all eyes come back to DeSo. A moment where every advantage in our arsenal hits the world stage simultaneously.It will take time, and often more time than we&#39;d prefer. But, eventually, DeSo will be so good they can&#39;t ignore it, and it won&#39;t matter how long it took.
