Tottenham Hotspur, an English Premier League club, is set to launch its fan token, known as SPURS, on the Chiliz Chain. This move aims to enhance fan engagement and offer exclusive rewards and experiences to supporters.   
The SPURS token will be made available through Socios.com, a well-known fan engagement and rewards platform. By leveraging the Chiliz (CHZ) Chain, which is part of the SportFi network with over two million users, Tottenham Hotspur will join a growing list of around 80 sports teams using Chiliz Chain to connect with their global fan bases.   
Tottenham Hotspur currently collaborates with MatchWornShirt, whose auctions are authenticated on the Chiliz Chain, bolstering the chain's credibility and widespread usage.   
Additionally, holders of $SPURS tokens will have the opportunity to participate in on-chain voting, encouraging active fan involvement.   
Chiliz Chain, purpose-built for the sports industry, will facilitate the functioning of the SPURS Fan Token. With over two million user wallets and a daily user volume exceeding 60,000, the chain demonstrates its extensive reach and reliability.   
Since its establishment in 2018, the Chiliz blockchain platform has reportedly generated over $400 million in revenue for various teams and leagues.   
Ryan Norys, Commercial Sales Director at Tottenham Hotspur, expressed:   
“Our Fan Token will supplement the benefits of our current membership scheme. This partnership also illustrates the club’s ongoing efforts to generate additional recurring revenue sources for reinvestment in our football activities.”   
The SPURS tokens are scheduled to debut in a Fan Token Offering (FTO) on October 4, 2023. Following the FTO, SPURS tokens will be listed on major global exchanges, expanding accessibility to fans in strategic markets, including Asia.
