American investment company Galaxy Digital will expand its presence in Europe, appointing new CEO in Europe. 
Galaxy Digital <a href="https://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/September2023/21/c1084.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">has appointed</a> Leon Marshall to lead its European operations, seeking expansion opportunities in the region amid <a href="https://crypto.news/mica-explained-what-does-the-eus-first-crypto-regulation-mean-for-the-industry/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA)</a> cryptocurrency regulations. Prior to joining Galaxy, Marshall served as Managing Director and Global Head of Sales at Genesis for over four years. 
Marshall will lead the company’s expansion into Europe and will also manage operations and key customer relationships.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="galaxy-is-looking-for-ways-to-expand-in-europe">Galaxy is looking for ways to expand in Europe</h2> 
Marshall’s appointment follows the firm’s <a href="https://crypto.news/galaxy-digitals-novogratz-eyes-potential-in-bitcoin-etf/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">strategic alliance</a> with DWS, one of Europe’s leading asset managers, to develop a comprehensive suite of digital asset exchange trading (ETP) products in Europe. 
Along with this, Galaxy Digital <a href="https://crypto.news/sec-accepts-bitcoin-etf-applications-from-blackrock-fidelity-galaxy-digital/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">has re-applied</a> to become an exchange-traded fund in the US with Invesco in June 2023.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="eyes-across-the-atlantic">Eyes across the Atlantic</h2> 
Amid regulatory uncertainty, many US-based crypto companies are considering expansion into other regions. Europe is seen as an opportunity by crypto firms amid tightening cryptocurrencies in the US and EU MiCA Act. 
In particular, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase <a href="https://crypto.news/coinbase-plans-european-expansion-operating-licenses/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">has sought</a> to expand its operations in Europe, partly in response to the relative regulatory clarity offered by the European Union and the UK. Ripple Labs is also planning to expand in Europe&nbsp;and other cryptocurrency-friendly countries. Galaxy Digital also decided to follow.
