The proposed regulations would require brokers of digital assets to report certain sales and exchanges, and would clarify and adjust the rules regarding the tax reporting of information by brokers. Public comments on the proposal will be accepted until October 30.</p><h2 id="header-1">Massachusetts US Attorney&#39;s Office Seeks Recovery of $1.5 Million in Cryptocurrency Stolen via Fraud</h2><p>The Massachusetts US Attorney’s Office announced two suits seeking to recover about $1.5 million worth of cryptocurrency that was seized from accounts at Binance, and which the government says was stolen by fraudsters. The cases involve Massachusetts residents being tricked via text, WhatsApp, and email into sending hundreds of thousands of dollars which were transferred to Binance accounts.</p><h2 id="header-2">FTX Trading Seeks Approval to Hire Galaxy Digital for Crypto Portfolio Management amid Market Concerns</h2><p>FTX Trading Ltd. asked US Bankruptcy Judge John T. Dorsey for permission to retain Galaxy Digital Holdings to manage FTX’s crypto portfolio and serve as its investment adviser. FTX argued that it is necessary to hire the adviser to oversee its transactions to avoid flooding crypto markets and price manipulation.</p>
