The nomadic tribes of Neri&#39;s enormous deserts are well known for their use of thrusting and throwing spears as a primary weapon, with one member of each tribe demonstrating true mastery being granted lifelong ownership of the tribe&#39;s Sandmaster Spear, one of a series of sacred heirlooms rumoured to come from a time when the tribes were united. Another relic of those times is a great conclave where all the tribes come together at a sacred desert site once every six Nerinese years. It is in part a celebration of the continued survival of the tribes, a commemoration for those that have returned forever to the sands, and perhaps most importantly a time of choosing. The conclave coincides with a specific alignment of Neri&#39;s three major moons in the sky above, and during this brief time champions heralding from each tribe must battle to become the next Great Chief - a ceremonial title more than one bearing any real responsibility. The last contestant standing receives the most sacred relic of the desert tribes: the Leveller Bow. Crafted of Waxon, not only does it fire bolts of pure energy over great distances, when several buttons on the grip are depressed simultaneously a spherical shield of pure plasma envelops the wielder, protecting them from almost all harm.
