YG Plus, the media and advertising agency of the Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment is teaming up with <a href="https://www.nftgators.com/what-is-the-metaverse/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">the metaverse</a> studio Karta to build a virtual experience on Roblox. 
Dubbed Blackpink: The Palace, the virtual hub is inspired by the K-pop music group Blackpink. It will host the group’s fans (Blinks) allowing them to hold gatherings in the metaverse. 
According to the announcement on Wednesday, users will be able to participate in various activities and connect with fellow fans as they explore the world of BLACKPINK. Fans will also be able to snap selfies with avatars resembling the band members, explore a grand throne room, and accumulate in-game currency. 
Commenting on the partnership, Hyojung Lee, Head of IPX Division at YG PLUS <a href="https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/yg-entertainment-teams-with-metaverse-studio-karta-to-launch-virtual-blackpink-experience-in-roblox/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">said</a>: “We look forward to welcoming fans from all over the world to a beautiful virtual palace where they can party, connect, and experience everything BLACKPINK beyond the constraints of time and space.”&nbsp; 
“Fans will be surprised to see and have an opportunity to take selfies with avatars of all four members of BLACKPINK–JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ and LISA,” added Lee. 
This announcement comes barely a month after Karta raised $1.1 million in a funding round led by GameTech Ventures. Other participants in the round included investors from music, gaming, sports and finance industries. 
Roblox has recently been facing challenges amid a lawsuit accusing it of facilitating illegal gambling for minors. In June 2023, the company said it would be introducing new <a href="https://www.nftgators.com/roblox-eyes-users-aged-17-plus-with-more-responsible-tiktok-like-metaverse-experiences/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">experiences for users aged 17 years and above</a>, allowing it to keep hold of its most active user base. 
The company offers one of the four biggest metaverse platforms alongside Minecraft, Zepeto and Fortnite.
