Shiba Inu Unveils NFC-Linked Authentication Service for Real-World NFT Integration 
Developers of the Shiba Inu ecosystem have announced their plans to introduce a groundbreaking authentication service that leverages NFC technology to connect physical assets with non-fungible tokens (NFTs). This initiative is a vital component of the upcoming Shibarium blockchain, a layer 2 solution focused on NFT and metaverse applications. The blockchain, slated for launch later this year, will utilize SHIB, BONE, and LEASH tokens. 
Lead developer Shytoshi Kusama detailed the concept of “Shibacals: Authenticated Collectibles” in the latest update. By incorporating NFC chips, these Shibacals will digitally validate tangible items, effectively increasing their value as collectibles. Near Field Communication facilitates seamless wireless interaction over short distances. 
To illustrate, a Shibacal tag can be generated for a real-world item like a T-shirt and linked to the owner’s NFT collection, thereby establishing their authenticity as the rightful owner of both the T-shirt and NFT. When reselling, these tags can be verified on the blockchain, enabling buyers to distinguish between genuine products and replicas. 
Kusama emphasized the importance of extending verifiable ownership and scarcity beyond digital items on the blockchain to physical objects. With the anticipated mass adoption of Shibarium, and the likelihood of scammers targeting tangible assets rather than wallets, the need for authenticating such items becomes crucial. 
Notably, Shibacal tags are not limited to the Shibarium ecosystem and can be employed for product verification on any blockchain network. 
Following this announcement, Shiba Inu ecosystem tokens experienced significant surges on Wednesday. SHIB recorded an 11% jump, outperforming other major tokens, while BONE and LEASH also saw substantial gains of 9% and 5.5%, respectively, according to data from CoinGecko.
