<h2 id="header-0">Hot Topic: Community Testing Event</h2><p><em>Developer Diaries aim to give a transparent view to our community on how the build of Bloktopia is progressing. We value your loyalty and passion for our project, and we will be sharing as much information as we can about 1 specific feature — hopefully at the end of each week!</em></p><p><em>We will continue to work in an agile manner, and will be adapting and optimising our roadmap continuously. That is the nature of building a metaverse. Some things we share here might not ever come to fruition, but our goal will be to set clear expectations and communicate with you all about the upcoming roadmap and priorities.</em></p><p>This weekly Developer Diary update is about our latest community testing for our ever evolving M3TASPACES product.</p><p>Recently at Bloktopia we opened up to the amazing discord community again to allow them to enter and test out M3TASPACES v2. With this version, we wanted to test a few systems before future scaled tests. In this Developer Diary, we want to share some of the insights and results of that community test.</p><h4><strong>Highlights from the community test</strong></h4><ul><li>100 concurrent users in the same “room”</li><li>25 different countries; including users from the UK, USA, Germany, Japan, Australia, India, Argentina and Turkey</li><li>We hosted real time communication between all of these users</li><li>We hosted a synchronised presentation between these users featuring Paddy (CMO) and Alex (Head of Partnerships and Marketing) from our team, in VR, on stage</li><li>Everyone joined via Cloud rendering; requiring them only to have a laptop with a web browser to attend.</li><li>All users managed to login to the experience (using the M3TAPASS app) within 10 seconds to 1 minute. The majority completed within 30 seconds maximum- really quickly!</li></ul><p></p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/3cca90c481e1471e88146398dac23354.png" /><p><em>A chart highlighting the range of countries users joined the test event from</em></p><p></p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/c9a2f82f4c9f43beb1f7838398795659.png" /><p><em>Graph showing the time from clicking the Vagon link to Entering Bloktopia, including the time taken to scan the QR code through M3TAPASS</em></p><h4><strong>Why are the above important to us?</strong></h4><p>As we have said in many of these diaries previously, we have made it a priority to reduce the barrier to entry, with the Metaverse being for everyone. Therefore, our first test had to be as world wide as possible to confirm right from the start that everyone can easily join.</p><p>Thanks to our awesome discord community, we managed to get users from literally everywhere! Cloud Rendering pushed the barrier to entry from high specification machines and VR devices, right down to just browsers on PC/Mac. Some test users even joined from their mobile/tablets too. Whilst we did specify that we weren’t testing on these devices yet, it did work just as well as PC/Mac. We are working on the touch controls to develop this option to join, so watch this space!</p><p>We also wanted to test our presentation system to a small, controlled group of testers, which we got great results from.</p><p>Finally this was a test of our M3TAPASS app. With it being fresh into the app store for our community, we wanted to see how users handled logging into M3TASPACE using the app. Our test was to gather feedback on the following areas;</p><ul><li>Account creation and login flow</li><li>Avatar creation</li><li>Communication within the application</li><li>The quality of Cloud Rendering at a small scale</li><li>Mixing of VR and Cloud rendering users</li></ul><h4><strong>The Results</strong></h4><p>The community test, overall, was a success. However, also gave us critical feedback in some areas we thought we needed to improve, with the test confirming this to us. The results of the surveys were that;</p><ul><li>M3TAPASS app account creation score 4.8/5</li><li>Login flow scored 4.6/5</li><li>Communication in app scored 1.4/5</li><li>Overall experience scored 4.5/5</li></ul><h4><strong>Next steps</strong></h4><p>After reading all the community feedback, we actioned a development team to address the confusing UX and small issues with microphone and voice communication with the application. Within 48hrs, we had:</p><ul><li>Improved and upgraded our noise cancellation system to remove background noises when talking</li><li>Implemented a “Push to Talk” system for communication</li><li>Improved the spatial sound and propagation of sound within the space and orientated it more closely to your avatars position for improved quality</li><li>We reduced the delay of sound being captured and transmitted over the network</li><li>Implemented new HUD elements to better show when your muted/unmuted and talking to other users</li></ul><h4><strong>Conclusion</strong></h4><p>Our recent community test was a success and remain really important to us. It gives us important clear feedback in the areas we are doing well but, most importantly, helps identify areas we need to improve on.
