A hot debate is swirling around which token in the Shiba Inu ecosystem is the better investment – the flagship meme coin SHIB or the gas token BONE. As investors, we decided to break down the pros and cons of each to see where we stand. 
On the BONE side, the arguments for upside are compelling. With a much lower market cap than SHIB, BONE has a lot more room to run. The coming launch of Shibarium also gives BONE major utility as the network’s gas token, which could send demand surging. Just look at the gains other layer-2 gas tokens have seen. 
Plus, SHIB has already “mooned” once, doing a 100x from its lows. While it likely still has solid growth ahead, matching those returns seems unlikely. BONE, on the other hand, hasn’t even come close to that kind of breakout yet. 
BONE has shown promising growth as well, serving as the governance token for ShibaSwap watcher.guru. With only 230 million tokens in supply, BONE has built-in scarcity. And as Shibarium brings demand for gas fees, BONE has room to appreciate further. 
Yet BONE comes with big risks too as a newer asset. It has yet to see real mainstream adoption and may never reach the heights of SHIB mania. Still, for risk-tolerant investors, BONE offers exciting upside. 
However, the case for SHIB can’t be ignored. It remains the most popular and recognizable token in the ecosystem by far. The community around SHIB dwarfs BONE right now, and that brand power counts for a lot in crypto. 
SHIB also has growing utility as it expands into NFTs, metaverse projects, and more. And with staking expected to arrive soon, SHIB becomes an attractive passive income play for HODLers. While upside may be lower, its use cases should still fuel steady, organic growth. 
At the end of the day, a balanced approach seems prudent. Gaining exposure to both SHIB and BONE allows investors to hedge their bets and capitalize on the overall growth of the ecosystem. The tokens offer contrasting opportunities – SHIB for stability and community strength, BONE for explosive growth. 
Allocating across both is likely the smartest play rather than trying to predict if one will dramatically outperform. As investments, SHIB and BONE complement each other more than compete. Diversification is king!
