<h2 id="header-0">Hot Topic: New Artwork Vision</h2>Developer Diaries aim to give a transparent view to our community on how the build of Bloktopia is progressing. We value your loyalty and passion for our project, and we will be sharing as much information as we can about 1 specific feature — hopefully at the end of each week!We will continue to work in an agile manner, and will be adapting and optimising our roadmap continuously. That is the nature of building a metaverse. Some things we share here might not ever come to fruition, but our goal will be to set clear expectations and communicate with you all about the upcoming roadmap and priorities.This <a href="https://medium.com/&#64;bloktopia/bloktopia-developer-diaries-1-1827868741ba" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">weekly Developer Diary update</a> focuses on some exciting redesigns and an updated vision on the look of the Bloktopia Metaverse.Throughout our development, Bloktopia has undergone significant creative changes. However, our primary objective has always been to bring to life and expand upon the initial vision showcased in our original trailer and alpha demo of level 1, which was released over a year ago.While the trailer was impressive and brought our vision to life, it left us with various creative gaps that needed to be addressed. The original vision for Bloktopia was pulled together using assets from the Unity store, on the HDRP. Since making the decision to rebuild the base code through URP within Unity <a href="https://medium.com/&#64;bloktopia/first-view-of-the-universal-render-pipeline-build-e04d47d09002" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">here</a>, delivery has been incredibly challenging and time consuming in order to make an environment for the masses without compromising on graphic quality.We have explored different artistic styles, experimented with diverse colour palettes, and devised fresh design concepts for the elements Bloktopian’s will encounter and engage with in Bloktopia.Our aim has been to capture the essence of the trailer, the enviroment that comes to users mind when thinking of Bloktopia, whilst infusing our unique creative touch into every aspect of the home of crypto!<h2 id="header-1">Fine-Tuning for the Best</h2>Redesigning and iterating on elements is crucial to achieving the best results — a philosophy we fully embrace. Our primary objective is to unify the experience, ensuring that players have an exceptional and consistent journey, regardless of where they are in our expansive world.Iteration plays a pivotal role in this pursuit. By continuously refining and reimagining our designs, we have the opportunity to identify and address any shortcomings or areas for improvement. It allows us to fine-tune mechanics, enhance visual aesthetics, and optimise user interactions.<h2 id="header-2">The Process</h2>Part 1 — Resource Gathering &amp; BrainstormingWhen it comes to creating things, our process kicks off with gathering the necessary requirements. We have discussions to determine the key factors, such as: what exactly we’re going to build, why we’re building it, where it fits within the Metaverse, how it should look and the materials to be used.This stage serves as a brainstorming session where every aspect is thoroughly explored, leaving no stone unturned. By taking the time to lay out these essential details, we set a solid foundation that guides us throughout the entire creation process. This stage often involves many mood-boards, references, back and forth conversations etc. This is a crucial step in development as it sets the vision.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:1400/1*zsdiEv_DiHC_c4a38uFQeQ.png" />Example of a mood-board created for a Bloktopia terminalPart 2 — SketchingAfter gathering the requirements and establishing a clear vision, the next step in our process is to create a preliminary sketch of the idea. They act as a starting point, allowing us to iterate rapidly and make necessary adjustments early on. By swiftly sketching our ideas, we can gather feedback, iterate further, and refine the concept before delving into more detailed and time-consuming work. While we draw inspiration from references, it’s equally important to infuse our own unique perspective to create something fresh and unique to Bloktopia.Part 3 — Final ConceptAfter the initial sketch has been approved, we proceed to the final concept stage. Here, we bring the idea to life with colours, lights, materials and every intricate detail fully fleshed out. This final concept serves as a blueprint that will be handed off to the 3D team to be modelled and then built within Unity.It’s important to note that even though an idea reaches this advanced stage, it is still likely to undergo changes throughout the development cycle.
