<p class="is-style-lead">A security breach on Aptos Network’s Twitter handle has allowed scammers to promote a fraudulent APT token airdrop campaign. Following this news, APT prices are down 4% on the last trading day.</p> 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="aptos-network-s-twitter-targeted">Aptos Network’s Twitter targeted&nbsp;</h2> 
<p>Recently, the Twitter account of Aptos Foundation @Aptos_Network was hacked by scammers who used it to promote a fraudulent campaign. The scam involved a fake APT token airdrop and targeted unsuspecting individuals who clicked the link. </p> 
<p>In a tweet on July 6, Aptos Labs announced that they are collaborating with Aptos Foundation to regain control of the compromised account and will keep the public informed on any developments.</p> 
<p>Meanwhile, the Aptos blockchain continues operating optimally, as the network is secure.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="scammers-targeting-crypto-influencers-and-projects">Scammers targeting crypto influencers and projects</h2> 
<p>The social media handles of web3 projects and&nbsp;<a href="https://crypto.news/whalechart-twitter-hacked-to-promote-fake-uniswap-giveaway/">influencers</a>&nbsp;have recently become prime targets for bad actors. This year alone, there have been various cases of this ugly incident.</p>

<p>In January, a popular non-fungible token (NFT) project, Azuki’s Twitter&nbsp;<a href="https://crypto.news/nft-project-azukis-twitter-account-hacked-750000-stolen-in-30-minutes/">account</a>, was breached, allowing malicious agents to get away with more than $750,000 worth of NFTs and crypto assets.</p> 
<p>In March, the Twitter account of Dante Disparte, the chief strategy officer and director of global policy, was&nbsp;<a href="https://crypto.news/hacker-hijacks-circle-csos-twitter-account/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">compromised</a>&nbsp;to promote scam giveaways to loyal USDC users. </p> 
<p>More recently, in April,&nbsp;<a href="https://crypto.news/kucoin-users-los-over-22k-following-twitter-handle-hack/">reports</a>&nbsp;emerged that KuCoin users had lost over $22k to bad actors who orchestrated a scam scheme through the exchange’s hacked official Twitter handle.</p>

<p>At press time, the APT token changes hands for $7.19, representing a 4.8% decline in the last 24 hours. According to trackers, APT has a market capitalization of $1,507,416,580, with a 24-hour trading volume of $84,196,675.</p> 
<p>In June, Blockchain investigator ZachXBT&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/zachxbt/status/1666894383638011913" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>&nbsp;that scammers compromised the Twitter accounts of eight popular figures in crypto, using them to propagate phishing scams, resulting in the theft of nearly $1 million worth of cryptocurrencies.</p>
