Citizen-led events are taking place across the country, and the rate at which infrastructure data is being collected is rapidly increasing. The Whole Earth Foundation (hereafter, WEF), an NPO organization that builds, provides, and operates a citizen-participation-type infrastructure information platform, has the slogan “protecting infrastructure together with citizens.”Through cooperation with outside corporate partners like Fujitsu and Tohoku Electric Power Network Co., Ltd., events have been held all over the nation since April. Citizen communities have emerged in various places, and Citizen-led events have also begun to be held, as Citizens have more opportunities to interact in person in different locations. The social contribution type Web 3 application “TEKKON” will be used as a tool to gather photo images of “manholes” and “utility poles,” which are examples of social infrastructure. We’ll use this data to work on a comprehensive inspection of infrastructure across the country with the help of citizens. We will address the social issue of aging infrastructure and realize the creation of a low-cost infrastructure maintenance ecosystem through citizen participation by providing local governments and infrastructure companies with infrastructure image data collected by citizens for use in maintenance and management. Our goal is to connect the next generation with secure infrastructure.The results of citizen cooperation in June 2023 are as follows.Since “TEKKON” was released on September 13, 2022, and made available to the general public on October 15, approximately 4.03 million manhole images have been acquired worldwide.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/8832e04e4a124eee9e304c3006d8bcde.jpg" />In addition, utility poles, which were added as a new infrastructure shooting target from October last year, have increased the speed of infrastructure data collection due to the expansion of collaborative events with external companies, and currently more than 710,000 data have been collected.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/157af2fc953f4ccfb46a77ade8317600.jpg" />In June, all infrastructure hunting events met their goals. He traveled across the United States and is now off to post infrastructures in Asia. One of his <a href="https://www.tiktok.com/&#64;giucomia/video/7246630595873361157" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">most recent video</a>s have reached 700k views.Citizens organize events all over Japan. The “D battle” movement has been accelerated!<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/4d2ac555928f4755826479f70330465c.jpg" />Through official events, face-to-face relationships have been formed and TEKKON communities are born. Citizen announced the “D Battle” mechanism in June, allowing them to launch events themselves. It means “”D”ecentralized”, “”D”emocratized”, and “”D”okuritsu”, and events are being held in TEKKON Tokyo, Saitama, Aichi, and Niigata following the official announcement. We will accelerate the collection of infrastructure data by leveraging Citizen’s power.The first TEKKON student intercollegiate circle was formed in Kyushu. Around 50 students from seven Fukuoka Prefecture universities are currently involved, including Kyushu University and Fukuoka Institute of Technology. Twice a month, events are held to discuss efficient photography methods, divide into groups to photograph manholes and utility poles, and conclude with an exchange event that also serves as a chance for student networking.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/srd-optimized-uploads/3657d80f8cd34ebd88ef409523390236.jpg" />In the future, with the goal of becoming Japan’s №1 on the TEKKON Kyushu Intercollegiate team! We will expand the team beyond Fukuoka Prefecture. We will plan and manage large-scale events involving the mayor of the city.Waterworks, manholes, utility poles, and guardrails are all examples of social infrastructure. It is a necessary infrastructure not only in Japan, but in any city around the world, but its deterioration has become a major social issue.The WEF believes that involving the general public (citizens) in problem-solving can help to prevent infrastructure collapse.
