As we constantly strive to enhance our technology and its potential, we are rebranding our core blockchain engine - formerly known as “ARK Core” - to “Mainsail”.</strong></p><h2 id="header-0">Why Mainsail?</h2><p>The Mainsail of a ship is its driving force, guiding it towards its destination with strength and efficiency. It’s an apt metaphor for what we envision this upgrade to be: the driving force behind our blockchain, directing our technology towards a future of enhanced security, reliability, and community involvement.</p><h2 id="header-1">Enhanced Consensus Engine for Better Finality</h2><p>At the heart of this transformation will be our newly reworked consensus engine. Mainsail will be powered by a system inspired by Tendermint, designed to provide stronger finality, eliminate dangerous rollbacks, and greatly improve our fork-recovery mechanism. This represents a significant stride towards a more secure and reliable blockchain.</p><h2 id="header-2">Modular, TypeScript Based, Layer 1 Blockchain Protocol</h2><p>Continuing ARK’s tradition of leading-edge technology, Mainsail, like its predecessor ARK Core, is a fully modular, TypeScript-based Layer 1 blockchain protocol. This means our technology will continue to be highly flexible, customizable, and forward-compatible, ready to meet the evolving needs of the blockchain world.</p><h2 id="header-3">Open Source and Free for All</h2><p>We’ve always believed in the power of community and the philosophy of shared knowledge. In keeping with this belief, we’re excited to announce that Mainsail will be completely open-source, available under the GPL license. This ensures that not only is our core layer 1 blockchain engine free and open source to all without limitation, but any derivative works will also be copyleft protected, following the same open license.</p><p>By doing this, we’re inviting developers, researchers, and enthusiasts around the world to join us, contribute, and help shape the future of the ARK Ecosystem.
