<h2 id="header-0">Fintech company Block, owned by Jack Dorsey, has announced a 25% YoY increase in Bitcoin revenue from its Cash App, reporting an impressive $2.16 billion in Q1.</h2><p>As per Block&#39;s shareholder letter, the significant revenues generated from Bitcoin were due to a rise in the number of Bitcoin sold to customers, but this increase was partially counterbalanced by a decline in Bitcoin&#39;s market price in comparison to the same period last year. The firm&#39;s earnings per share were 40 cents, which beat analyst expectations of 35 cents per share by 14%, with the first-quarter revenue rising 26% YoY. Cash App&#39;s total profits reached over $931 million in Q1, a 49% YoY increase. However, Cash App&#39;s profit paled in comparison to the company&#39;s gross profit, which came in at $1.71 billion.</p><p>During the earnings conference call, Block&#39;s CEO <a href="https://coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency-news/jack-dorseys-block-creates-a-bitcoin-mining-chip" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Jack Dorsey</a>  highlighted the importance of leveraging artificial intelligence and &#34;open protocols&#34; to proactively address the &#34;significant shifts&#34; occurring in the global financial system, pointing to ongoing US bank failures and de-dollarization as the main factors driving this need for change.</p><p>Block&#39;s share price saw a positive response from the equities market after its earnings report was released, with a 5% surge to $63.50 in after-hours trading and ultimately settling at a 2.5% gain.
