<h2 id="mariana-de-la-roche-w-returns-to-iota-and-inatba-counsel">Mariana de la Roche W. Returns to IOTA and INATBA Counsel</h2>
<p>A recent <a href="https://twitter.com/iota/status/1650937723610341397">tweet</a> from IOTA announced that Mariana de la Roche W. is rejoining the company as Regulatory Affairs Manager and will continue her involvement in the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications (INATBA) counsel. IOTA is a founding member of INATBA, which focuses on promoting the global adoption of blockchain technology by connecting policymakers, regulators, developers, and users.</p>

<h3 id="iota-8217-s-contributions-to-inatba-working-groups-in-2022">IOTA&#8217;s Contributions to INATBA Working Groups in 2022</h3>
<p>Throughout 2022, IOTA Foundation members actively <a href="https://www.ethnews.com/iota-offers-chance-to-win-smr-1-3m-in-shimmerevm-incentive-program-to-build-the-blockchain-of-the-future/">participated</a> in various INATBA Working Groups, such as the Social Impact &amp; Sustainability Working Group (SISWG), Privacy Working Group (PWG), and Finance Working Group (FWG).</p>
<p>The year brought several challenges to the blockchain industry, including a crypto crash and regulatory challenges in the form of the EU&#8217;s Transfer of Funds regulation. INATBA&#8217;s work was crucial in <a href="https://www.ethnews.com/iota-dev-team-implements-stability-focused-updates-to-goshimmer-conflictdag-pr-and-iotacore/">addressing</a> these issues and fostering collaboration between DLT developers, users, policymakers, and regulators.</p>
<h3 id="social-impact-and-sustainability-working-group-siswg">Social Impact and Sustainability Working Group (SISWG)</h3>
<p>Under the leadership of IOTA&#8217;s Senior Regulatory Affairs Expert Mariana de la Roche, the SISWG worked on several initiatives, including defining social impact for <a href="https://www.ethnews.com/iota-takes-a-step-forward-in-shimmerevm-integration-to-tap-into-billion-dollar-market-with-pyths-price-oracles-deployment/">blockchain</a> projects, developing a framework for social impact measurement, contributing to important publications, and participating in the UN&#8217;s Blockchain for the UN Charter Values and the SDGs Action Plan 100+ (BC100+) initiative.</p>
<p>The SISWG also published the Unified Definition of Social Impact for the Blockchain Sector in December, providing a standardized definition for the sector to work with.</p>
<h3 id="finance-and-privacy-working-groups">Finance and Privacy Working Groups</h3>
<p>IOTA Foundation members also contributed to INATBA&#8217;s Finance Working Group (FWG) and Privacy Working Group (PWG). As part of the FWG, IOTA co-authored papers discussing the future regulation of <a href="https://www.ethnews.com/iota-and-dell-secure-future-of-iot-with-joint-patent-for-distributed-ledger-technology/">Decentralized Finance</a>, Decentralized Autonomous Organizations, Non-Fungible Tokens, and the need for crypto-asset regulatory sandboxes.</p>
<p>In the Privacy Working Group, IOTA&#8217;s Legal Counsel and Data Protection Officer, Maitén Vilches, co-authored the 2021–2022 edition of the Report on Data Privacy Regulations in the Blockchain Ecosystem.</p>
<h3 id="looking-ahead-to-inatba-in-2023">Looking Ahead to INATBA in 2023</h3>
<p>In 2023, IOTA Foundation members look forward to continuing their work with INATBA&#8217;s various working groups. The SISWG plans to focus on activities in line with the BC100+ initiative and participate in events promoting blockchain for social impact and sustainability.</p>
<p>The FWG will continue providing feedback to the European Commission regarding the update of the Directive on Administrative Cooperation (DAC8), the new AML Regulation, and <a href="https://www.ethnews.com/iota-foundation-launches-spyce-5-empowering-businesses-to-build-real-world-products-on-blockchain/">several initiatives</a> related to Web3. Additionally, the IOTA Foundation will join the Identity Working Group to support the actions of the Digital Credentials Task Force, promoting interoperability and mutual support for digital credentials across borders.</p>
