In our last post we explained what <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/cryptown/articles/64175f392d80720f9caa2022" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">HODL Staking</a> is, and how it is different than other staking contracts. In HODL Staking those who HODL get rewarded with a higher APR every time someone else cashes out.This is a great way to help protect stakers from devaluing their investment. The increase in APR compensates them for the potential token price devaluation every time someone cashes out.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:632/1*L5LdrwpS0Zzurn8FvH5wpg.png" />But what about the token itself? What if the project does not want to have an inflationary mechanism where more an more tokens are added to the circulating supply, adding selling pressure and lowering the token price?With HODL Staking this problem is easily solved. In the HODL Staking contract the project has to available options:<ol><li>Stake $X earn $X — This is the classic staking mechanism where you earn the same token that you stake.</li><li>Stake $X earn $Y — This is a more advanced staking mechanism since it allows the project to be more flexible AND protect their token from devaluation!</li></ol><h2 id="header-0">With the second option a project can use the HODL Staking contract in many different ways, not only to strengthen its token, but as a way of marketing, to help gain even more investors!</h2><h2 id="header-1">Here is an example:</h2>The project with the $X token, wants to get more token holders that would stake. The project can create multiple campaigns with different tokens as rewards.Lets assume they launch 10 contracts, each with an initial 10% APR, and with a max deposit of $10K worth of $X token.since each contract will have a different token as a reward, the project can use some popular tokens like $BNB or $LINK as rewards, or if the market is unstable, they can use $USDT or $USDC. This gives the potential stakers more confidence in staking $X token.Alternatively, they can use these contracts for cross promotion with other projects. They can approach Y project and say they will launch a “stake $X get $Y” or “stake $Y get $X” campaign if Y project will announce it to their community. This can give X project more exposure and new token holders!In this example we see how with only a $10K investment X project can get many stakers to join their staking campaign, with flexibility that allows stakers to diversify their earnings, while also protecting $X token from devaluation.<h2 id="header-2">Here is another example how HODL staking can be used to help protect a project and its investors:</h2>It is a well known fact that since the advancement of decentralized exchanges (DEXs), centralized exchanges (CEX) are not as important as they were in the past. The FTX Collapse, only made it worse for CEXs.Most CEXs give no real value to a project, and most of the times they actually end up hurting the project’s advancement.A CEX listing is expensive, and normally costs anywhere in the range of $30K — $300K&#43;. In addition to the listing fee, the project is required to do “market making” or pay more for the exchange to actually do it for the project. This requires a large amount of tokens and funds to be sent by the project to the market making account, only to be used later on to create “Volume” that is mostly fake. This practice puts a lot of selling pressure on the project’s token, and ends up hurting the project more than helping it.Here is an example of a project that had their TGE about 1 month ago. The first few days the token was ONLY listed in Pancakeswap. Immediately after it was listed in not one but two (!) top 10 CEXs, the token price crashed, and haven’t recovered yet.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/v2/resize:fit:700/1*bp2SuYuiWdRV3UdY2TxkoA.png" />For obvious reasons we will not share which project it is, since we are not here to bring FUD to their project, and we actually feel bad for them and their investors who are now under a lot of unnecessary pressure.The listing in these big CEXs cost this project at least $200K.Imagine if this project didn’t list their token in two CEXs but only in one, and would allocate $100K as rewards to their stakers. Do you think their chart would look the same? Can you imagine the hype they would bring to their project? And if they didn’t list in any CEX and would allocate $200K as rewards to stakers? How do you think their chart would look now?<h2 id="header-3">The upcoming HODL Staking contract is going to revolutionize the way projects interact with their investors and with other projects!</h2>If you are reading this, and you are an investor in an EVM project, you should bring this to their attention.
