The recent attack on Euler Finance, which resulted in the theft of $197 million, has been labeled the largest decentralized finance (DeFi) hack in 2023 up to this point. On the other hand, there are reports that the hacker has had a change of heart, so this might not be true for much longer.On March 18, about 3,000 Ether worth $1,811 were returned to the deployer address for Euler Finance from the hacker address for Euler Finance. This transaction had a value of $5.4 million. An investigator named Peckshield looked into the blockchain and found that the monies were sent in three separate transactions.It was confirmed by Cointelegraph that 1,000 ETH was transferred to the deployer account of Euler for each transaction. At the time this article was written, there had been no more outward transactions logged, thus the likelihood that the hacker will return all of the stolen money — $197 million — is extremely low.On March 16, Euler Finance made public the offer of a one million dollar reward for information leading to the capture of the person responsible for the breach and the recovery of the stolen assets.After successfully withdrawing $197 million from the BNB Smart Chain in a series of separate transactions, the exploiter then used a multichain bridge to move the money from the BNB Smart Chain to the Ethereum blockchain.The stolen monies were observed to be moved into a cryptocurrency mixer known as Tornado Cash shortly after it was reported that a $1 million bounty would be offered for the attacker&#39;s capture.In order to avoid the possibility of going to jail, Euler Financial ordered that the hacker refund 90 percent of the funds within twenty-four hours.
