<p>Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, is the founder and CEO of Binance, the world’s largest centralized cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume as of January 2023. With a user base estimated at around 100 million people, and a daily trading volume of over $60 billion on average over the past year; Binance is a major player in the cryptocurrency industry.</p><p>CZ was born in Jiangsu, China on February 5, 1977, and grew up there until he was about 12 years old. He and his family then moved to Canada, settling in Vancouver, British Columbia. Once he was old enough, CZ started working several service jobs to help support his family; one of which was working at McDonalds. He then attended college at McGill University in Montreal where he received a degree in Computer Science.</p><p>He moved on to begin a long and successful career in the tech industry, beginning with his first startup in the late 1990s. He also worked for companies like Bloomberg and Blockchain.info before founding Binance in 2017.</p><h2 id="header-0">CZ’s Introduction to Bitcoin</h2><p>CZ first heard of Bitcoin back in 2013 while playing a poker game with some friends. Shortly thereafter, he decided to go all in on Bitcoin. He sold his apartment in Shanghai for a nice chunk of change to make his first Bitcoin purchase at around $600 according to CZ himself.</p><p>A few months after his first purchase of BTC, the price plummeted to around $200. Apparently, this is where CZ learned the definition of “diamond hands” while being down on his investment. He is often quoted as saying, “If you can’t hold, you won’t be rich”. Well, we all know how that has turned out for him now being one of the wealthiest men in crypto.</p><h2 id="header-1">Binance Today</h2><p>Since its launch, Binance has grown at an impressive rate, thanks in large part to CZ’s vision and leadership. The exchange is known for its wide selection of cryptocurrencies available for trade, as well as its low fees and strong security measures. In addition to its core exchange business, Binance has also diversified into other areas, such as decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).</p><p>In addition to his work at Binance, CZ is also very active in the broader cryptocurrency community. He is a regular speaker at industry events and is known for his enthusiasm and optimism about the future of cryptocurrency. He has a strong social media presence and is known for sharing his insights and thoughts on the industry as a whole with his followers.</p><p>CZ is also known for his commitment to charitable causes.
