Coding an ERC20 token with <a href="https://www.openzeppelin.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">OpenZeppelin</a> is a relatively straightforward task that can be done in several steps. The first step is to install the OpenZeppelin SDK from npm, and then create a new project directory. After that, the user can add contracts to their project directory by running the command ‘openzeppelin create ERC20’ which will generate three files, including a token contract file, a migration script file and a test script file. In order to complete the coding of the token, one must edit these three files by adding certain parameters such as name, symbol and total supply of tokens.After all the files have been edited accordingly, the user can compile and deploy the contracts using truffle. To do this, they will need to initialize truffle in their project directory by running ‘truffle init’ in the terminal and then edit its configuration file to select Ethereum networks they are targeting. Once that has been done, users can run ‘truffle compile’ in their terminal to compile all their projects’ contracts into bytecode format and then use ‘truffle migrate’ or ‘truffle deploy’ commands for deployment.The last step would be testing of the contracts before releasing them on any Ethereum network for production use. To do this users can write tests in Javascript or Solidity languages with Truffle’s built-in testing framework which once written can be ran by executing ‘truffle test’ command in terminal window. With these tests users can ensure that their contracts will function correctly with real environment values.
