<h2 id="header-0">SBF acknowledges testifying by video, but is the FTX founder purposefully delaying travel to the United States due to concerns over potential jail time?</h2><p>In the United States, Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder and former CEO of FTX, is slated to appear before a House committee on Tuesday as officials look into his participation in the events that followed the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange. SBF, however, made it clear during a Twitter chat that he would be giving his <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency-news/maxine-water-calls-ftx-sbf-subpoena-definitely-table" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">testimony</a> by video call rather than in person. This has caused many people to question whether SBF is afraid of being arrested and sent to jail if he enters American land.</p><h3 id="sbf-will-video-testify">SBF Will Video Testify</h3><p>The newly appointed FTX CEO John J. Ray III and Bankman-Fried will testify before the House Committee subcommittee on Tuesday, according to a statement from the panel. Late on Friday, the statement was made public.</p><p>SBF acknowledged his video call participation when asked about his testimony before the Congress on Friday in a Twitter space with over 19K users. However, when a participant inquired as to why he did not attend the Congressional hearing in person, SBF gave the excuses of security, paparazzi, and time-saving.</p><h4>Can SBF go to jail?</h4><p>Some former American officials and distinguished lawyers, though, believe it&#39;s for a different cause. Braden Perry, a former senior trial lawyer for the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, thinks that SBF&#39;s attempt at a video chat is a cunning means of evading arrest by American authorities.</p><p>Michael Zweiback, a well-known criminal defence attorney in Los Angeles, agreed with Braden and stated, The <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency-news/federal-prosecutors-ceo-ftx-will-meet-new-york" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Southern District</a> of [New York] has the authority to detain him on the basis of a complaint and probable cause, and they have the right to seek an indictment from a grand jury afterwards.</p><p>Naturally, SBF should be afraid about getting detained at any time. said Mark Kornfeld, an attorney with the Pennsylvania-based Buchanan Ingersoll Rooney law firm.</p><h4>SBF Responds To Fears Of Jail</h4><p>SBF immediately said, &#34;I don&#39;t think I will be jailed,&#34; in response to a question from the audience about if he worried going to jail when travelling from his home in the Bahamas to the United States.</p><p>Additionally, Sam Bankman-Fried has been invited to the Senate hearing, which could take place later this month. SBF responded haltingly, &#34;I&#39;m not currently scheduled to do that, but I&#39;m open and willing to have a dialogue if it&#39;s deemed to be significant,&#34; when questioned about his opinions. However, his tone suggested that he was being casual.</p><p>SBF also acknowledged that he was playing video games throughout the two-hour Twitter space conversation.</p>
