<h2 id="header-0">A backlash from the crypto community was caused by worries over Metamask&#39;s IP address collecting while utilising the service. Consensys updated its clarification.</h2><p>Consensys, the company that created <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency-news/metamask-launches-beta-portfolio-decentralized-application" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Metamask</a>, revised its privacy policy in response to popular worries about collecting customer IP addresses as they use the service. Infura, which is also owned by Consensys, is how Metamask collected user IP addresses, according to an earlier amendment to the US company&#39;s privacy policy. Consensys recently issued a statement clarifying that the most recent modification was not meant to represent a significant shift in the company&#39;s business operations. It stated that its only goal was to increase transparency on current procedures.</p><h3 id="the-operation-of-consensys-data-storage">The Operation of Consensys Data Storage</h3><p>The cryptocurrency corporation expressed concerns about the centralization issue in response to news of potential user data storage by the company. Despite acknowledging using the information, Metamask insisted that it is not abusing it. Additionally, there is no proof that any data misuse has occurred to date. The firm stated that it will only gather IP address and wallet information in response to &#34;write&#34; requests. Before being removed, data is only kept for a little time, it was added.</p><p>In accordance with our data retention policy, we keep and remove user information such IP addresses and wallet addresses. We are attempting to limit retention to 7 days.</p><p>Consensys said that it was making some changes to MetaMask and launching a new advanced settings page for user onboarding at the same time.</p><h4>Opposition to monopoly</h4><p>Co-founder of Metamask Dan Finlay has voiced his support for Coinbase&#39;s recent decision to discontinue support for NFT transfers. For its decision, <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency/coinbase-stock-coin-prices-usd" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Coinbase </a>Wallet blamed a hefty gas tax of 30% imposed on the Apple iOS ecosystem. To assist Apple users in avoiding the price, Finlay advocated the introduction of a new prepay transaction relay service.</p>
