This time we are  covering DEX Ventures, an investment fund focused on supporting FinTech  projects and often providing long-term strategic partnerships.</em></p><p><em>We  sat down to have a conversation with Aurora Wong, the Founding Partner  at DEX Ventures. Below is the record of our conversation:</em></p><h3 id="strong-tell-us-about-your-portfolio-what-projects-does-it-consist-of-strong"><strong>– Tell us about your portfolio, what projects does it consist of?</strong></h3><p>We  focus on investing in crypto projects that help develop the industry  overall. Mainly we look at the Web3 sector, including projects that  develop Web3 infrastructures and applications, and design new Layer1  blockchains to expand the DeFi ecosystem.</p><p>Aside  from those, we also keep an eye out for NFT-related projects, companies  that are looking to make it in the GameFi sector, and DAOs. The bulk of  our portfolio, though, is comprised of infrastructure projects.</p><h3 id="strong-how-do-you-choose-your-projects-what-do-you-pay-attention-to-first-of-all-when-making-a-choice-what-strategies-do-you-use-for-your-investments-strong"><strong>– How  do you choose your projects? What do you pay attention to first of all  when making a choice? What strategies do you use for your investments?</strong></h3><p>When making an investment decision, we put the greatest value in the  founding team of the project. Their backgrounds and expertise are what  ultimately decides if the project is going to sink or swim.</p><p>At  DEX Ventures, we have a team of research experts from across the world.  They all have diversified backgrounds, though primarily centered around  finance and technology. With their help DEX Ventures can thoroughly  evaluate projects and select the ones that demonstrate great potential.</p><p>Additionally, through our international team and network of more than 1000  co-investors, incubators, and founders, we get to have access to  early-stage blockchain startups globally.</p><h3 id="strong-why-did-you-choose-choise-com-for-investment-what-were-the-main-factors-that-influenced-your-decision-maybe-the-team-project-capitalization-the-number-of-issued-coins-strong"><strong>– Why  did you choose Choise.com for investment? What were the main factors  that influenced your decision: maybe the team, project capitalization,  the number of issued coins?</strong></h3><p>As  previously mentioned, we take the founding teams of projects very  seriously. If they have the mentality to stand out and bring their  project to the next level, to deliver a unique, high-quality product to  the market, then we are more likely to put our attention and resources into helping such people.</p><p>We  believe the core team of Choise.com deeply understands the Web3 sector,  and has shown a good track record and competence with blockchain  technology and finances. They have an idea that works well in the crypto  market - easier access to a great variety of financial products and  earning opportunities is something that many people want. And the  Choise.com team members are willing to put in the long-term effort to  get the results they want.</p><p>For these reasons, we were confident about our decision to invest in Choise.com.</p><h3 id="strong-how-do-your-expectations-for-investing-in-crypto-projects-differ-from-classic-venture-investments-strong"><strong>– How do your expectations for investing in crypto projects differ from classic venture investments?</strong></h3><p>The  most important difference is that the crypto sector is still in its  early stages of development. We clearly understand that the  crypto/blockchain space we focus on is much more volatile and riskier  than classic venture investments.</p><p>But  we also believe that this is the future of the financial world, and  that it has exponential growth potential. With our experience, knowledge  and network accumulated throughout the years, we try our best to select  solid projects and lower potential risks.</p><h3 id="strong-is-crypto-winter-a-time-to-invest-or-take-a-break-strong"><strong>– Is Crypto Winter a time to invest or take a break?</strong></h3><p>In  our opinion, a crypto winter is the perfect time to seek out new  projects to invest into. Based on our experience in the previous cycles,  the bear market has always been a better time to explore good projects.  This is due to the fact that serious players are the ones to stand out,  while the weaker, lower-quality projects tend to expire early on in  harsher conditions.</p><p>Another  reason why a crypto winter is a good time to invest is because we can  do so at a lower valuation. By supporting a promising project early on,  it has greater chances to achieve once the bear market passes.  Essentially, it’s the principle of making friends with time.
