It also serves as a wallet for holding ERC-20 tokens allowing users to access services built on the network via the wallet.<h2 id="header-0">How to set up a Metamask Wallet</h2><h3 id="1-download-and-install-the-metamask-wallet">1. Download and Install the Metamask Wallet</h3>To create a wallet, you need to install the extension first. MetaMask is supported by most browsers, including Chrome, Brave, Firefox, and Edge.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/dfb5a0091cd24c92ac09de66031f23b9.png" />Here I will instruct you to set up a Metamask Wallet via Chrome.To download a Metamask Wallet, you only need to open your Chrome and search for Metamask Wallet, then click “Install Metamask for Chrome”.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/f97cf797c7684449bd7dc8378a4f2836.png" />After clicking install, you need to click “Add to Chrome”, then tap “Add extension” when a pop-up appears to add Metamask to your Chrome extension.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/63d3f50e5a6f47eea6538a2f1f32ff2a.png" /><h3 id="2-create-a-wallet-account">2. Create a Wallet Account.</h3>When finished adding Metamask to your Google extension, you can start creating your own Metamask account.Once MetaMask is opened, you may be prompted to either “Create a Wallet” or “Import wallet.” If you already have an account, choose “Import Wallet” and input your seed phrase to link your account.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/aecf0f1a4b55464f9b3c7968aeeb640d.png" />If you are setting up Metamask for the first time, click “Create a Wallet” to get one.After that, you will be asked to agree to Metamask’s Terms of Use, and then prompted to create a new password. Click “Create”.Note: A password of at least 8 characters is required. We recommend creating a completely unique password, that has never been used before, and comprises a combination of upper and lower-case characters, symbols, and numbers.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/e6d4fccbd31e4b8b888c33a59369b2cc.png" /><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/4a657493a8c44b29a717371f64c2443d.png" /><h3 id="3-store-recovery-phrase">3. Store Recovery Phrase</h3>Once you have finished creating a wallet, there will be a Secret Recovery Phrase to be revealed. REMEMBER to write them down and keep them safe.The Secret Recovery Phrase will be required to retrieve your wallet if you ever lose access to your computer, and it should be kept in a secure place. Keep your 12-word back phrase private since anybody with access to it will be able to reclaim your funds.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/819980693000449bb5a80f1eae7145d0.png" />Next, you will be asked to confirm your Secret Phrase by choosing each phrase following the same order previously. Once done, click “Confirm”.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/a10b2e2338874538af2d6ba0c47c46f6.png" />After that, the setup process is almost completed. Click “All done” on the final page so you can use your Metamask Wallet to trade cryptocurrency from now on.This is the main wallet page you’ll see once your account is successfully set up.
