Self-custodial crypto wallet MetaMask has released a new decentralized app (dApp) that lets users view their assets across multiple accounts and networks to provide its 30 million users with a richer portfolio view.MetaMask prides itself on having 21 million active users, higher than its competitors, for its easy-to-use interface. The portfolio dApp is a welcome development for many who jumped into the bull market but couldn’t track their digital assets, according to Kevin Feng, Head of DeFi at WOO Network.“In the last bull market, many new users were brought to crypto and web3, and MetaMask has been their primary gateway to access DeFi (decentralized finance), NFTs (non-fungible tokens), and the metaverse. It&#39;s exciting to see MetaMask devoted to enhancing the user experience with the new portfolio dApp,” said Feng.However, Feng noted that the success of the new feature is yet to be seen, as it does not track DeFi positions to make it a complete portfolio tracking similar to Zerion, Zapper, and DeBank.“It won&#39;t be a complete portfolio tracking without the DeFi position. It is basically like you only track a person&#39;s net worth using his cash in the wallet, without counting savings and investments,” explained Feng.He said that MetaMask could be coming up with this feature. “I&#39;m sure they want to add it, but it requires a lot more upkeep than just tracking tokens in the wallet,” he said.“It remains to be seen if MetaMask&#39;s portfolio dApp will be widely adopted, but the success of the MetaMask swap makes me think the massive user base gives MetaMask a lot of edge over the others,” Feng further said.MetaMask said its portfolio dApp originated from a popular community request.
