<h2 id="header-0">OpenSea brings rarity rankings to NFTs</h2><p>NFTs bring the concept of unique collectibles to the digital world. However, unlike physical collectibles, the rarity of NFTs hasn’t really been a quantifiable metric that buyers can use when deciding which NFT to buy.</p><p>OpenSea in collaboration with other platforms including Proof, icy.tools, and Curio created OpenRarity– a protocol designed to provide consistent rarity ranking across all NFT platforms and help collectors find truly rare NFTs.</p><p>The protocol “provides a verifiable, consistent &amp; mathematically-grounded approach to rarity calculations”. Basically, an NFT loses rarity points if it shares similar attributes with a lot of other NFTs.</p><p>However, it is still up to the NFT creators to decide whether they want their NFTs to be ranked for rarity. But buyers are sure to consider it an important metric when deciding which NFTs to buy.</p>
