The popularity of <a href="https://www.bsc.news/post/whats-decentralized-finance-and-how-defi-works" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Decentralized Finance (DeFi)</a> has skyrocketed as users look for its unique technology to make millions of dollars. The Ethereum blockchain network is the most prominent blockchain network for DeFi and the second largest cryptocurrency in market capitalization. However, network congestion and high fees have hindered its exponential growth.Arbitrum, a layer 2 scaling solution, aims to reduce Ethereum’s transaction fees and congestion by moving as much computation and data storage off Ethereum’s main blockchain (layer 1) as possible. Despite this, Eth2&#39;s impact is hard to predict until it launches. In the long run, layer 2 projects may remain useful despite the update&#39;s likely inability to address scalability issues fully.The scalability and transaction fees of Ethereum have been age-old concerns for several years. While Ethereum can only handle 14 transactions per second, Arbitrum can handle 40,000 TPS. In addition, transactions on Ethereum cost several dollars to complete, whereas they cost about two cents on Arbitrum.Arbitrum&#39;s architecture uses Optimistic Rollups to bundle all transactions done on the Arbitrum chain, and subsequently posts it on Ethereum. Arbitrum is an optimistic rollup which enables anyone to verify that transactions on Arbitrum are not fraudulent before they are posted on Ethereum through interactive proving.
