In terms of the cryptocurrencies held or owned by South Africans, the report stated that half of the respondents owned bitcoin, with the remaining half distributed between three altcoins.“As it stands, around 5% of those surveyed in South Africa own BTC, 2% own ETH, 2% own Dogecoin, and 1% own Cardano.” the report said.Meanwhile, South Africa ranks third internationally in terms of the number of crypto owners that own bitcoin (52%), trailing only Australia (60%) and Ghana (54%). The report by Finder states that 37% is the global average.In terms of gender, the report discovered that males account for 65% of South Africa&#39;s 4 million cryptocurrency owners. Globally, Norway has 74% of its cryptocurrency owners who are men, while Colombia and Vietnam are tied at 56%.In South Africa, 45% of crypto owners are between the ages of 18 and 34. On the other hand, just 23% of those over the age of 55 own cryptocurrencies, making them the category with the lowest ownership rate.After governments and individuals learned about cryptocurrency&#39;s use cases, its popularity has skyrocketed in the past two years.
