Ethermine, the world&#39;s largest ethereum mining pool, has revealed plans to discontinue proof-of-work (PoW) ethereum mining completely.According to Ethermine, the platform&#39;s miner dashboard will display a countdown, and users can continue mining ether until the countdown hits zero.According to a recent announcement by<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency/ethereum-eth-prices-usd" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> Ethermine</a>, the world&#39;s largest ethereum mining pool, the platform plans to halt ETH mining as soon as The Merge takes place. Currently, the Ethereum network will transition from a proof-of-work (PoW) network to a proof-of-stake (PoS) network on or around September 15, 2022. The previous few weeks have been a guessing game as to where ethereum miners will go after The Merge.Ethermine is the world&#39;s largest ethereum mining pool, with 262.79 terahash per second (TH/s) committed to the Ethereum chain. According to sources statistics, the pool has a substantially higher hashrate than the second largest ethereum mining pool, F2pool, which commands 127.48 TH/s.The Ethereum mining phase will end on September 15th, 2022. After this date, it will no longer be feasible to mine ether on the Ethereum network utilizing graphic cards (GPUs) or ASICs, according to Ethermine. As a result of this change, the Ethermine ETH mining pool will enter withdraw-only mode after the <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-dictionary/proof-of-work-pow" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Proof-of-Work</a> mining phase has ended.Ethermine&#39;s announcement comes on the heels of the proposed creation of ETHW, a proof-of-work version of Ethereum. Because the chain has not yet split, there is no way to estimate how much hashrate will support the proposed ETHW chain.Furthermore, Ethereum Classic&#39;s (ETC) network has seen a significant increase in hashrate over the previous four days, rising 39% since August 17. On August 20, 2022, ETC&#39;s hashrate reached an all-time high, reaching 38 terahash per second (TH/s). Other Ethash-centric tokens, like RVN, ERGO, and BEAM, have not witnessed hashrate gains on the scale of ETC this weekend.
