#1. MakerDAO should 'seriously consider' depegging DAI from USD

MakerDAO founder Rune Chirstensen has urged members of its DAO to “seriously consider” the depeg of DAI from USD.
This comes after sanctions on crypto mixer Tornado Cash. USDC issuers Circle then froze $75,000 worth of the stablecoin linked to 44 sanctioned addresses to comply with United States law.
Around 50.1% of MakerDAO’s DAI is collateralized by USDC.

#2. Slope Wallet denies link to $5M Solana wallets hack

Slope acknowledged finding a critical vulnerability in its Solana wallet for mobile.
However, it said there was no "conclusive evidence" that it caused the $5 million Solana wallet exploit earlier this month.
It highlighted that the number of hacked wallets was significantly greater than those exposed to the vulnerability, suggesting the hackers may have used another unaccounted attack vector.

#3. dYdX complies with U.S. Treasury’s Tornado Cash ban

Decentralized exchange dYdX blocked some accounts that had previously interacted with Tornado Cash.
It has since unblocked some accounts but did not disclose which.
The U.S. Treasury had sanctioned Tornado Cash and its associated smart contracts, restricting all U.S. residents from interacting with the protocol.

#4. ETC hits 4-month high

ETC price has hit a four-month high of $42.29 on August 12 riding on anticipation for the Merge.
Ethereum Classic is a hard fork of the Ethereum blockchain co-founded by Vitalik Buterin and Gavin Wood.
Now, some members of the Ethereum community are again debating whether to execute another hard fork to preserve the proof-of-work approach.

#5. ETH sent to celebs from Tornado Cash

An anonymous troll sent a slew of Tornado Cash transactions to some Ethereum addresses on Tuesday.
This appears to be satire to show how the Tornado Cash sanctions could affect users who receive funds from blacklisted addresses. It is not possible to block an incoming transfer on-chain.
Affected wallets include those controlled by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, TV host Jimmy Fallon, clothing brand Puma and a wallet created for donations to Ukraine.
