PUBLISH gives talk on new media startup “SLOTT” at Pukyong National University

PUBLISH is honored to announce that it was invited by Pukyong National University to give a talk about “SLOTT”, its new media startup.

The lecture, which was held on November 2, was hosted by the Department of Media Communication at Pukyong National University in Busan, South Korea.

The lecture was one of three lectures on the topic of media entrepreneurship and job opportunities in an era of media convergence. Other speakers included representatives from JTBC and KakaoStyle.

Audience members were mostly made up of third and final year undergraduate media students.

SLOTT CEO Kelly Son delivered the talk, emphasizing the need for media entrepreneurs to be hands-on. “When you’re starting out as a media entrepreneur, you have to be willing to get your hands dirty and do a bit of everything,” she said.

Son founded SLOTT while working as a Media Creator at the PUBLISH Institute for News and Technology. The media startup targets MZers and single-person households.

Following Son’s presentation, Wayne Kim, Chief Research Officer of PUBLISH and Head of the PUBLISH Institute for News and Technology, gave a lecture on the theme of “Journalism Transformation.” Participants shared their views in a question-and-answer session that followed.

At the end of the lecture Junghwan Kim, Professor of Human ICT Convergence in the Department of Media Communication at Pukyong National University thanked Son and Kim, adding that “the lecture aimed to broaden the practical understanding of media communication for both undergraduate and graduate students.”
