To take advantage of this trend, BitMEX has announced that it will list perpetual swaps for the PEPE token, allowing traders to trade the volatile asset with up to 50 times leverage. However, as the hype around the meme token continues, some early investors have been cashing out, leading to significant price fluctuations. 
One trader, in particular, sold $2 million worth of PEPE tokens using MetaMask swaps but lost $350,000 due to minimal liquidity and 25% slippage. Another trader temporarily tanked the price of PEPE by almost 50% as they cashed out $678,000 worth of the token. 
The price action of PEPE is reminiscent of dogecoin’s over the years, with intense volatility being caused by a lack of liquidity or sustainable demand. Dogecoin faced similar sell pressure when the hype began to subside. In this case, PEPE could face similar challenges when derivative markets go live as traders attempt to capitalize on a trend that has historically ebbed and flowed. 
While the PEPE token may seem like a quick way to make a fortune, investors must approach it cautiously. The token’s volatility and lack of liquidity can lead to significant losses, as demonstrated by the traders who lost a substantial amount of money. Therefore, investors must do their due diligence and understand the risks before investing in any cryptocurrency, including PEPE. 
In conclusion, the rise of PEPE in the crypto market has been nothing short of astounding. However, as with any investment, it is crucial to approach it cautiously and understand the risks involved.
