This strategic move follows a detailed analysis revealing that Drumheller's profitability was adversely affected by elevated <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/impending-bitcoin-halving-may-trigger-major-hashrate-decline-say-experts/">energy costs</a> and voltage issues. The closure aligns with Hut 8's proactive measures to maximize asset value and lay the groundwork for future growth. Despite the site shutdown, Hut 8 retains its lease, offering a cost-effective option to re-energize the facility should market conditions become more favorable. 
The transfer of the most efficient miners to the Medicine Hat site is set to commence in March, capitalizing on the site's superior infrastructure and economics.
