As the <a href="https://news.todayq.com/craig-wrights-honesty-questioned-witnesses-speak-out-in-the-uk-trial/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">trial</a> investigating Craig Wright’s assertions of being the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi, entered its fourth week in the United Kingdom, a significant development arose regarding alleged falsified emails. Wright’s former legal representatives at Ontier claimed that emails, purportedly showing their communication, were tampered with.&nbsp;
These emails were disclosed to the court by Wright’s wife, Ramona Watts, through their UK counsel. This revelation came after Wright’s team raised concerns about Patrick Madden’s digital forensics reports, which accuse Wright of forging evidence to support his claim as Satoshi Nakamoto. In the ongoing trial investigating Craig Wright’s claim to have created Bitcoin, a significant development emerged regarding alleged fake emails. Wright’s former lawyers stated in court that the emails, shared by Wright’s wife as evidence, were ‘not genuine’. This happened during the fourth week of the trial in London.
These emails, exchanged between Wright and his former legal representatives at Ontier, were brought into the trial when Wright referenced them while being questioned last week. Subsequently, Wright’s wife, Ramona Watts, shared the emails with his current legal team at Shoosmiths, based in London, for verification. Shoosmiths then contacted Ontier to confirm the accuracy of the emails.
Wright asserted that Ontier had access to the Australian accounting platform MYOB in 2019, and he claimed to possess emails supporting this claim. However, Ontier disputed the authenticity of the emails shared by Wright’s wife, alleging that they had been doctored.
Shoosmiths revealed the disputed emails and Ontier’s response in court on Monday. These documents will now undergo analysis by lawyers representing both Wright and the plaintiff, the <a href="https://news.todayq.com/not-fake-satoshi-craig-wright-lashes-out-at-expert-criticism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA)</a>. Madden’s take on the authenticity 
Partick Madden wrote detailed reports challenging the authenticity of many documents Wright offered as evidence in this trial. The court questioned his doubts about the authenticity of documents presented by Craig Wright, who claims to be ‘fake Satoshi’. His reports definitely play an important role in this COPA trial.
Throughout the cross-examination, Madden’s reports challenging Wright’s evidence legitimacy were highlighted. Despite Madden’s reservations, he appeared unsettled and downplayed his own conclusions.
On behalf of Shoosmiths, Craig Orr cross-examined Madden carefully to undermine the expert’s findings and his work on the investigation. Madden admitted uncertainty when pressed about the existence of a footer in a document from 2008, stating, “I can’t say that 100%.”
When Orr pressed further, asking if Madden’s statements were mere speculation, Madden responded, “It’s a bit more than that, but, okay.”
Additionally, Orr raised concerns about Madden’s reliance on COPA’s counsel, Bird &amp; Bird LLP, for drafting his report instead of hiring an independent assistant. This matter was too important for Madden to entrust to anyone else.
