<p></p><p>January has passed and we are very excited to share with you the first development and community updates of 2024!  This edition is short but packed. We started the year with the launch of our roadmap, which directly reflects the teams’ goals for the future of the Qtum ecosystem.</p><h3 id="2024-roadmap-announcement">2024 Roadmap Announcement</h3><p>The roadmap execution started in January, and by May this very year, we aim to have delivered all these new projects and developments.</p><p>Qtum will provide an audited bridge to Ethereum for DeFi and Web3 activities. We are also launching Ordinals on Qtum and with that, introduce another token standard based on Bitcoin’s BRC-20.</p><p>The roadmap is short and direct to deliver much-needed functionality and infrastructure. The team will focus on building partnerships and expanding the ecosystem in 2024.</p><p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/704d5764fadd4695bfe60207d06461b4.png" /></p><p><strong>Roadmap details:</strong></p><h4><em>Qtum Bridge and USDC</em></h4><p>We are deploying infrastructure for developers to build or integrate Web3 utilities, including a bridge for transferring tokens between Ethereum and Qtum. The bridge is awaiting a Certik audit and will allow for the transfer of Ethereum ERC-20 assets to Qtum.</p><p>We&#39;re deploying the USDC &#34;Bridged Stablecoin Standard&#34; set of contracts on Qtum and Ethereum, which will enable wrapped USDC to Qtum. We will also integrate a MetaMask Snap integration for the wallet.</p><p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/9f89de6fc7c14527ab2a7923aa259f25.png" /></p><p>Concept Art of Qtum Bridge Interface</p><h4><em>BRC-20 and Ordinals Support</em></h4><p>Qtum already supports token standards like ERC-721 and ERC-1155 so it is possible to create NFTs. But this year  we will build tools to support a Qtum implementation of BRC-20 tokens and Ordinals.</p><p>Expect to see an indexer, blockchain explorer, and web-based frontend to interact with Ordinals. We&#39;re also working on a user-friendly wallet. Once the Qtum implementation is completed, we will explore ways to modify and improve it further.</p><p>Qtum Ordinals is a significant development that makes blockchain technology more affordable and accessible to a wider audience. This will help more people take advantage of the benefits of blockchain inscriptions.</p><h4><em>Qtum Core</em></h4><p>Qtum Core is the base layer of the protocol. It incorporates the blockchain, which is a clone of Bitcoin that uses a modified Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. A middleware interpretation layer called the “Account Abstraction Layer” allows the EVM to co-exist with a UTXO blockchain.</p><p>Qtum Core has updated over 40 times since September 2017 by merging updates from Bitcoin and Ethereum teams. In 2024, the Qtum team will continue following this strategy to merge new updates from Bitcoin and EVM into Qtum Core.</p><p>That’s it for the roadmap update. We hope you are as excited as we are for what’s to come!</p><h2 id="header-0">#web3prayforjapan Campaign</h2><p>On January 2, 2024, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Ishikawa Prefecture in central Japan. Qtum joined Palette Chain&#39;s #web3prayforjapan campaign to support the affected communities.</p><p>Contributions will be directed to the Red Feather Community Chest&#39;s Donation to the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake Relief Fund.
