Critics argue that the SEC&#8217;s recent actions are an attempt to save face rather than genuinely safeguarding investors and the market.



U.S. Representative French Hill voiced skepticism regarding the SEC&#8217;s motives, branding the recent crackdown as a &#8220;cover your ass&#8221; move by SEC Chair Gary Gensler.
