The lawyers of the American basketball legend &#8211; Shaquille O&#8217;Neal &#8211; reportedly asked a federal court to block a recent summons served regarding his interaction with FTX. They claimed the documents were &#8220;tossed&#8221; at the front of his moving car: an entirely different version than the one presented by attorney Adam M. Moskowitz who supposedly served the sportsman in his home.
Failed investors have claimed that O&#8217;Neal and many other celebrities used their popularity to promote the now-bankrupt exchange, triggering severe losses to inexperienced clients. 
<h2 id="span-data-preserver-spaces-true-8216-inadequate-8217-summons-or-twisting-the-facts-span">&#8216;Inadequate&#8217; Summons or Twisting the Facts?</h2>
As <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/shaquille-o-neal-seeks-to-quash-ftx-suit-summons-as-inadequate-1.1917509" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-wpel-link="external">reported</a> by Bloomberg, the attorneys of the former NBA star argued that the papers notifying a presence in court were &#8220;tossed&#8221; at O&#8217;Neal&#8217;s moving vehicle, and eventually, they &#8220;landed&#8221; on the road. As such, they requested a dismissal of the legal process against him, labeling the summons &#8220;inadequate.&#8221;

The assertion disassociates with Adam Moskowitz&#8217;s thesis. The lawyer leading the lawsuit against O&#8217;Neal <a href="https://cryptopotato.com/nba-legend-shaquille-oneal-served-in-ftx-class-action/" data-wpel-link="internal">said</a> he served the athlete at his home in mid-April. He also claimed the whole process happened in front of security cameras:
<blockquote>&#8220;The good news is his home video cameras recorded our service, and we have made it very clear he is not to destroy and/or erase any of these security tapes because they must be preserved for our lawsuit.&#8221;</blockquote>
The class-action lawsuit does not include only the basketball legend. Failed investors at FTX also blamed Tom Brady, Naomi Osaka, Steph Curry, and many other celebrities for endorsing the once-prominent crypto giant, thus prompting investor losses when the platform <a href="https://cryptopotato.com/the-fall-of-sam-bankman-frieds-crypto-empire-a-timeline-of-ftxs-collapse/" data-wpel-link="internal">crashed</a>. 
O&#8217;Neal has previously <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/15/shaq-on-crypto-ftx-post-collapse-i-was-just-a-paid-spokesperson.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-wpel-link="external">asserted</a> he does not believe in crypto and engaged with FTX only because the firm paid him to participate in an advert:
<blockquote>&#8220;A lot of people think I&#8217;m involved, but I was just a paid spokesperson for a commercial.&#8221;</blockquote>
<h2 id="span-data-preserver-spaces-true-the-situation-with-steph-curry-and-tom-brady-span">The Situation With Steph Curry and Tom Brady </h2>
Stephen Curry &#8211; one of the current NBA stars &#8211; <a href="https://cryptopotato.com/basketball-superstar-stephen-curry-joins-ftx-as-ambassador-and-shareholder/" data-wpel-link="internal">inked</a> a deal with FTX in September 2021. Following the partnership, the 35-year-old American received an equity stake in the company and became its global ambassador. Like O&#8217;Neal, he starred in a commercial displaying FTX as a safe cryptocurrency platform. 
The Texas State Securities Board <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://basketnews.com/news-182077-stephen-curry-investigated-for-promoting-ftx.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-wpel-link="external">launched</a> an investigation against Curry to determine the impact of his actions on unfortunate investors.
Arguably the greatest NFL athlete &#8211; Tom Brady &#8211; has also been deeply involved with the former crypto behemoth. Besides serving as a brand ambassador of the exchange, he <a class="editor-rtfLink" href="https://cryptopotato.com/heres-the-amount-of-ftx-shares-tom-brady-and-gisele-bundchen-will-probably-lose/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-wpel-link="internal">owns</a> over 1.1 million common shares of FTX. His ex-spouse – Gisele Bundchen – has 686,761 stocks.
